Less Mess Arts and Crafts! A Few of My Favorites!

***Post contains affiliate links. This means I earn a small commission off of purchases made through the links***

My kids love to do art and create.  And I LOVE how creative they are. Honestly. BUT, they might be the two messiest children on the planet. I love them dearly but they are a hot mess. My little artists have colored and painted on almost every surface imaginable. My walls bare the reminders of their mural masterpieces. Because of their *ahem* affinity for unconventional canvases I have become somewhat of an expert on washable and mess free art supplies. I feel like I have tried it all and have carefully curated a collection of art supplies that will inspire their creativity while maintaining what's left of my sanity.

Crayola Ultra-Clean Washable Crayons

These are the only crayons I allow in my home. I threw all of the other ones away. These are INCREDIBLE. They wipe off with just plain water. To date I have had to clean them off of walls, wood furniture, glass, upholstery, laminate flooring, carpet, and clothing. They have never failed me. They come in larger sizes for little hands and the regular size. I find them a bit more brittle than traditional crayons but I will gladly accept more broken crayons in the name of clean walls.

Amazon Prime Announces 1-day shipping instead of 2 for Prime Members

***Post contains affiliate links. This means I earn a small commission off of purchases made through the links***

Amazon CFO Brian Olsavsky announced during the company’s first quarter 2019 earnings call that it’s working to provide free one-day shipping for Amazon Prime customers instead of the free two-day Prime shipping currently offered under the program. “We’re currently working on evolving Prime two-day to Prime one-day,” said Olsavsky.

It's going to take some time to roll out this perk to all customers. “We’re already starting down this path,” claims Olsavsky. “We’ve expanded the number of zip codes eligible for one-day shipping.” I live near a warehouse and have already noticed one day shipping as an option on some items. There isn't a set timeline announced but I would imagine people closer to shipping hubs will receive it first with more rural customers having a longer wait.

What do you think about the announcement? Are you excited or ambivalent? Let me know in the comments.

If you haven't tried Prime you can sign up for a free 30 day trial here: https://amzn.to/2XEaGXo

March Budget-Friendly Fashion Round-Up: Spring Transition Wardrobe

ideas for transitioning wardrobe to spring

When considering what to write about for the March Budget-Friendly Fashion Round-Up I knew EXACTLY what I wanted to focus on- Spring Transition Wardrobe ideas! Like much of the country, our weather has been oscillating between winter and spring temps (with some summer ones as well). Planning an outfit has become downright comical and I'm never sure what to expect from one day to the next. We tend to have really cool mornings that heat up by midday. For example, this morning we had frost on the roof when we woke up and it was 80* at lunch time. Because of this drastic variation throughout the day layers are essential for me.

In addition to outer layer ideas that are on trend and easy on the budget, there are some other fun pieces to make the most of this transition season. I tried to make sure to include some that can also make the leap into summer. There are some trendy pieces mixed in with some closet staples.

FREE PRINTABLE: St. Patrick's Day Craft Dot Marker Relief Shamrock

***Post contains affiliate links. This means I earn a small commission off of purchases made through the links***

This FREE PRINTABLE St. Patrick's Day Craft: Dot Marker Relief Shamrock is a super fun activity for toddlers and preschoolers.

I don't know how everyone else has been doing but I have been slacking on seasonal crafts since Christmas. I totally phoned in Valentine's Day. So I decided I better get something together for St. Patrick's Day so my kids don't feel completely neglected (j/k they probably don't give a crap either way).

Instant Pot Chicken Wild Rice Soup Panera Dupe

***Post contains affiliate links. This means I earn a small commission off of purchases made through the links***This Instant Pot chicken and wild rice recipe is a great copycat for the Panera soup. It is creamy and delicious! Super quick and easy!

I'm not a food blogger so you won't find 45 perfectly lit food photos on my recipe posts. I'm just a mom trying to make dinner before my kids dismantle the house. Take out food when I don't have a plan for dinner or our meat wasn't thawed was a huge budget drain for us. My Instant Pot has been awesome for saving me on days when the meat is STILL frozen. This soup is creamy and delicious! I love it for chilly days. To me this is the ultimate comfort food. We are a gluten free family so this soup is naturally gluten free but it would be so good served with crusty French bread! Soup is one of the few ways I can get my littles to eat veggies so I try to make it frequently and the Instant Pot makes it so much faster. Plus, I ALWAYS have leftovers which saves me another night of cooking.

Our Christmas Book Advent Calendar Countdown

***Post contains affiliate links. This means I earn a small commission off of purchases made through the links***I started wrapping them and placing them under the tree. Each night we open a Christmas book to read together. I number them so we know which one to pick each day.

I LOVE Christmas! I know some moms begrudgingly go through the motions but I genuinely love the season and doing all the fun activities. One of the fun activities we enjoy is counting down to Christmas. I've written before about advent calendars. We have a Melissa and Doug magnetic advent calendar that we love but we also started another countdown tradition that combines my love of presents with my love of books. I really like focusing on the "waiting" part of advent with the kids because it's the first real exposure to the anticipation we feel as we await the arrival of Christ during the season.
